Stearic acid fluorescein is one of SLT's fatty acid lipid fluorescein conjugates that is highly hydrophobic. Stearic acid is a saturated C18 fatty acid that can interact well with hydrophobic cell membrane or lysome membrane. Fluorescein modified stearic acid has strong green fluorescence with exitation/emission at 494 nm/515 nm. Stearic acid fluorescein thus can be an excellent membrane imaging agent.
