5(6)-Carboxyfluorescein succinimidyl ester (CFSE) is a green fluorescent dye that emits strong fluorescence light around 515 nm upon excited around 495 nm. CFSE has a reactive NHS ester group that can react with primary amine groups under alkaline conditions (pH 8-10) quickly to form a stable amide bond. Thus CFSE is a widely used reactive dye that can label proteins, antibodies, nuclear acids and many other substrates.
