Rhodamine labeled Chloroquine is one of SLT's red fluorescent bioactive probes  that can be used for bacterium imaging and detection.  Chloroquine is a small molecule used to treat malaria. The resistance of malaria bacterium to chloroquine obliviates the use of this molecule to treat malaria. Fluorescently labeled chloroquine, however, shows increased use in the imaging and detection of bacterium, such as Plasmodium falciparium, both in-vitro and in-vivo.  Chloroquine rhodamine conjugate gives bright red fluorescent light upon excited at 546 nm.
