Chitosan is a linear polysaccharide consisting of randomly distributed beta (1,4)-linked D-glucosamine and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine. Chitosan has been used in many areas including medical, agricultural and industrial. In biomedical field, chitosan has been successfully used as a hemostatic agent to stop bleeding and as an antibacterial agent. Cy5 labeled chitosan from SLT have bright fluorescent signal, excellent photo-stability and minimal toxicity, and suitable for both in-vitro and in-vivo imaging applications.
