Monochlorobimane is a cell permeable fluorescent probe that can detect cellular glutathione (GSH) levels and other thiol molecules. Chloromobimane is a non-fluorescent molecule that forms a fluorescent complex upon reacting with thiolated molecule such as glutathione. Bimane-thiol conjugate can be detected at 394/490 nm with common fluorescent instruments, such as fluorescent plate reader, fluorescent microscope or flow cytometer .
