Cyanine5-NHS (FL-NHS) is a near infrared (NIR) fluorescent dye that emits strong fluorescence light around 670 nm upon excited around 650 nm. Cy5-NHS has a reactive NHS ester group that can react with primary amine groups under alkaline conditions (pH 8-10) quickly to form a stable amide bond. Thus Cy5-NHS is a widely used reactive dye that can label proteins, antibodies, nuclear acids and many other substrate.
