Ruthenium-RU600-Azide (Ru(bpy)3-Azide) is one of SLT's reactive ruthenium dyes that has a reactive azide group. Ruthenium is a rare transition metal and some of its complexes gave strong red luminescence upon excited by UV light. Compared to other organic fluorescent dyes, ruthenium based fluorophores have large stoke shift, exceptional long fluorescent life time and excellent photo-stability. Because of its unique photonic properties, ruthenium based dyes are excellent fluorophores for two-photon imaging and electroluminescent assays.

Ruthenium-RU600-azide is an azido functionalized ruthenium dye that can react with linear or cyclic alkyne groups under so called Click Chemistry reaction conditions.
